| After years with far too noisy computers here, I finally managed to buy a new set of fans. Only for the power supplies, but that's a start anyway. Found a nice fan at overclockers.co.uk which was cheap as chips: £4,50 + VAT and P&P. In total £13.72 for two YS-tech FD8125 silent fans delivered to my door within three days. The fan came with a four pin pass-through power connector, so you can connect it to any HD power connector in the computer case. This means there's no speed measurement ofthe fan, but, hey what can you expect for £4.50? In my case ( All in all a swift operation, took maybe 30 mins from shutdown to reboot, including the mandatory vacuuming of the internals of the computer. Gosh she's a dust collector! So, am I a happy bunny now then? Yes indeed I am, already looking at the other fans inside the computers since they're now the most noisy part. One PC needs a quieter CPU-cooler and the other one wich allready have quiet CPU coolers (yes there's two of them) needs a more silent fan to the chipset cooler. Here's pictures and sound files for a comparsion between old and new: |
